Hey friend! In my last podcast (see below), I talked about my big news: resigning from the classroom, starting a freelance career, and one of my favorite songs.
This whole leap was not as uncalculated as many may think. Before starting my journey toward freelance writing, I decided to get some help (because idk what I’m doing half of the time, LOL).
I knew if I was going to take a leap, I needed a parachute to glide me down.
Back in March, I joined a writing community to help me stay on top of my goals, i.e. accountability. I needed structure and security a writing group could provide. This certain kind of safety parachutes are known for.
Though, we never met in person. They acted as a backpack when I parachuted into open air.
This freefall into the unknown was the three weeks in December before the “end.” There was no calm before the storm, only storm and carnage (JK). My business coach saint readied me for the fight. She gave me practical tips of a self-employed life like seasoned advice: encouraging me to live beneath my means and apply for health insurance.
My parachute became my community that surrounded me the whole while even after my parachute deflated and I hit the ground. I stuck the landing, though.
Keep being honest,
Shanisha xo
